“Click Farms” Become Global Business

For businesses just getting started on social media, looking to boost their profile, or heighten engagement levels, it can be tempting to purchase fake clicks, which can be purchased for as little as a half cent. While "click farms" have become lucrative in the social media industry, there is no upside for businesses who engage in this practice.   According to Twitter's Jim Prosser, "In the end, their accounts are suspended, they're out the money and they lose the followers."   Buying fraudulent clicks and follower accounts is a surefire way for businesses to lose all credibility in the social media world. Read on to learn how companies are cracking down on this trend.   "Celebrities, businesses and even the U.S. State Department have bought bogus Facebook likes, Twitter followers or YouTube viewers from offshore 'click farms,' where workers tap, tap, tap the thumbs up button, view videos or retweet comments to inflate social media numbers."   Read the...

[caption id="attachment_1684" align="aligncenter" width="288"] Source: Link[/caption] Since Twitter announced that it filed for IPO in early October, the interwebs have been buzzing with excitement and curiosity.  What will the final share price be? Can Twitter generate revenues and profits from its business? Hello, anyone remember Facebook’s IPO? And most importantly, what does this mean for “my” industry?   With over 200 million users Twitter is hardly an underground experience, but people are speculating whether this IPO will finally push Twitter mainstream.  With “TWTR” flashing across the ticker, we think that those not currently engaging with this platform might be intrigued enough to sign up. Especially since the share price was announced at $26 and is now trading at $45 per share (as of 10:30 a.m. CST, 11/7/2013.) A whole new generation of consumers is paying attention to Twitter now and no doubt brands and marketers are strategizing on how best to connect and...

What annual conference connects over 15,000 human resource professionals to 800 exhibitors under one roof? None other than the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) expo! Tell Your Story had the opportunity to witness the excitement firsthand this week at the SHRM 2013 Annual Conference & Expo at McCormick Place. This year’s turnout was reportedly the largest in the show’s history—even the show’s Twitter hashtag, #SHRM13, was a trending topic on the social media site.   With a guest speaker lineup including Hillary Rodham Clinton, Blake Mycoskie, and Mark Kelly and Gabby Giffords, hundreds of educational sessions, and a performance by Kelly Clarkson, there was undoubtedly enough to be excited about. However, the Tell Your Story team was most enthusiastic about the chance to work hand-in-hand with client SVM, a global leader in incentive and motivation solutions, in their booth.         Over the past few months, Tell Your Story developed and launched an integrated...

A show chock-full of inspiration and innovation, this is where creativity came to life for over 40,000 A&D professionals and over 700 exhibitors last week at Chicago’s Merchandise Mart.   As a NeoCon newbie, I was amazed to see how celebrated and highly regarded the show is throughout the A&D community—truly a creative’s paradise. [caption id="attachment_1339" align="aligncenter" width="300"] Source: Facebook[/caption]   What does Facebook’s revamped News Feed have to do with your brand? Everything.   Over the past decade, social media outlets have created a world where oversharing or “TMI” is widely accepted and encouraged. In an effort to educate consumers and differentiate themselves from competitors, many brands have forgotten about the art of simplicity when developing their content marketing strategies. Facebook’s redesigned News Feed is an attempt to simplify and reduce clutter, allowing the user to focus more on stories and people that are top-of-mind. According to Zuckerberg, Facebook’s mission for the News Feed is to be like a personalized newspaper with customized content (Newsroom.fb.com). With these changes slowly rolling out, how can companies take advantage of the new design for their own Page?   Here are some of Tell Your Story’s tips for creating valuable content your fans can identify with.   Less is more. As we walked around to each exhibit, it was hard to ignore the theme of new and innovative thinking, as each exhibit prided itself on being a “game changer” in the automotive industry.   Although there were many vehicles that were...
